Sheldon Riley will be Australia’s representative at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Italy in May.
The Sydney-based performer pipped the audience favourite, WA hopefuls Voyager, at the final post with his deeply personal single ‘Not The Same’ and will now be winging his way to Turin to compete against the best of Europe.
“I’m speechless,” Sheldon said post-show. “This is everything I have worked for and dreamed of since I can remember. I am so incredibly honoured to represent Australia on the biggest stage in the world.
“I have said this a few times throughout this Aus Decides experience, people will choose different when given the chance to see it. Thank you for giving me my chance to prove that.”
We mentioned back in June last year (HERE) that Sheldon would make an ideal candidate for the coveted Eurovision spot. And now he’ll travel to Turin with the hopes of a nation on his shoulders.
He’ll kick off the second semi final on Thurday May 12.
