And the award for the most heartbreakingly beautiful song of 2022 thus far goes to the new Aya Yves single ‘p.s.’.
And when you scratch beneath the surface of the song to reveal its meaning, the depth of emotion in the lyric and the delicateness of Aya’s vocals strikes you right to your core.
‘p.s.’ was inspired by her sister’s passing and is a stirring complement to her 2020 single ‘Dear E’.
“I knew back when I wrote ‘Dear E.’ that it was impossible to fit a lifetime of love, now what will be a lifetime of grief, into one song,” she reveals. ‘p.s.’ is a reflection of that.
“I will always have more I wish I could have said, and forever will wish there were more memories I could have made with my sister. All I have now is the love that sometimes is too painful to carry – but that’s how I know it was real.
“The night before writing ‘p.s.’ my sister said she was tired, that she was ready to go. I understood, even if I didn’t like it. I said she didn’t need it, but she had my permission.”
Heart. Broken.
